Cher's Vegas residency resumes next year
Cher 's Las Vegas spectacular is set to return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in February.
The superstar's first 35 dates for 2009 get under way Feb. 21 and stretch through May 24. The 90-minute concert-style extravaganza runs four nights a week--on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday evenings--and ticket prices range from $95 to $250, plus taxes and fees. Tickets will be available to the general public on Monday (11/3). The itinerary is listed below.
Since she started her Sin City residency last May, Cher has sold-out 44 shows and performed for nearly 200,000 fans, according to a press release. The pop diva inked a deal with promoter AEG earlier this year to play approximately 200 shows at the 4,300-seat Colosseum over a span of three years.
The "Cher at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace" spectacle features 18 dancers, plus aerialists, special effects, Bob Mackie costumes, a stage that alters its scenery for every song and music spanning Cher's four-decade career.
"This show is me ... but bigger," the star explained in a statement. "It takes some of my favorite elements from my touring shows and kicks them up a notch."
Earlier this month, Cher was forced to cancel a portion of her residency due to what she calls "Vegas throat"--an allergy caused by the desert winds--according to NBC-TV's Access Hollywood. However, the rumor mill went into overdrive with reports that the legendary singer/actress was suffering with everything from abdominal problems to cancer.
"Can I tell you something? If I had cancer, everyone would know it," a healthy-looking Cher told Access Hollywood during a recent interview. "I wouldn't tell them, but somebody would. When you have those kinds of things happen, if you're famous, you can't keep them a secret."
Cher retired from touring in 2005 after her farewell trek grew from fewer than 50 North American dates to 326.
The music and movie star has released more than 25 albums and sold more than 100 million records worldwide during her solo recording career, according to a press release.
