Colbie Caillat books December run
Rising star Colbie Caillat will close out the year with a slate of US tour dates as she continues the push behind her platinum-selling debut album.
The laid-back singer/songwriter currently has 10 shows confirmed around the South and East Coast in December. The trek is scheduled to launch Nov. 5 in Norman, OK, and move on to mostly major markets, including Dallas, Nashville and Washington, DC. Details are listed below.
Caillat became an Internet phenomenon two years ago when she posted some of her tunes at her MySpace page. With more than 3.3 million plays of her first hit song, "Bubbly," and 10 million plays total, the singer/guitarist was the No. 1 unsigned artist on MySpace for four successive months. It wasn't long before several record labels came calling.
Caillat's debut album, "Coco," surfaced on Universal Republic Records in the summer of 2007 and entered The Billboard 200 at No. 5. The set has since reached nearly double-platinum status and spawned the adult-contemporary and pop hits "Bubbly" and "Realize."
Next week, "Coco" will be released as a deluxe edition featuring the original 12 tracks plus several additional recordings. Highlights include new Caillat tunes "Circles" and "Somethin' Special," as well as alternate takes on "Bubbly" and "Magic," and live versions of Lauryn Hill's "Tell Him" and Bob Marley's "Turn Your Lights Down Low." The set also features a collaboration with Colombian superstar Juanes.
Caillat also has a number of songs ready for her next full-length album, according to a press release.
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old So. Cal native is vying for the Breakthrough Artist honor at this year's American Music Awards, which will be held Nov. 23. Fans will have a chance to vote for the winner beginning Nov. 10.
