Mariah Carey, others tapped for Grammy nominee special
Mariah Carey , LL Cool J and Taylor Swift are the latest acts to sign on for the verbosely dubbed "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! - Countdown to Music's Biggest Night," which takes place next month.
Carey, a five-time Grammy winner, has joined the roster of acts scheduled to perform at the Dec. 3 event, which will take place at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre L.A. Live and mark the grand opening of the venue's new Grammy Museum. Other previously announced performers include fellow five-time Grammy winners Celine Dion, John Mayer and Swift, six-time Grammy winners the Foo Fighters and 14-time Grammy winner B.B. King.
In addition to performing, Swift also will co-host with LL Cool J a one-hour segment of the event that is scheduled to air on CBS, according to organizers.
During the event, nominees will be named in several categories for next year's 51st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, which is set for Feb. 8. The Recording Academy has traditionally announced each year's Grammy nominees during a comparatively low-key press conference.
Tickets for the event are on sale now, with proceeds benefiting the Grammy Museum, and following the one-hour live telecast, ticketholders will get to take in a "one-hour exclusive concert by one of the evening's performers," according to a press release.
