The Pogues to head back to the US next spring

Irish punk balladeers The Pogues have announced dates for what is becoming a traditional spring US outing following holiday dates closer to home.

The group--which has mapped March tours in US cities in each of the previous three years--kicks off this year's trek March 9 in Atlanta, followed by a pair of shows each in New York City (4/12-13) and Washington, DC (4/16-17). The jaunt winds to a close March 21 in Boston. Details are shown below.

The band has also lined up a UK Christmas tour with shows across England, Scotland and Ireland set for December. Those dates can be found at the band's website.

Although The Pogues--who reunited in 2004, including original lead singer Shane MacGowan--haven't released an album of original music since 1996's "Pogue Mahone," the band has remained busy on the reissue front. Earlier this year, the group released a five-disc box set of outtakes and demos. "Just Look Them Straight In The Eye and Say... POGUEMAHONE!!" features 109 tracks culled from the group's vaults, ranging from demos cut in 1983 to live recordings from the band's series of reunion shows in 2001.

In 2006, the group, in association with Rhino Records, released re-mastered and expanded versions of its first five studio albums: "Red Roses For Me" (1984), "Rum, Sodomy & The Lash" (1985), "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" (1988), "Peace And Love" (1989) and "Hell's Ditch" (1990). Each CD contains up to seven additional songs over the original releases, as well as completely new liner-note booklets.
