Dropkick Murphys plot annual St. Patty's trek
Dropkick Murphys have mapped dates for the next installment of their annual St. Patrick's Day tour, leading up to a multi-night stand in the Boston-based band's hometown.
Although the group--which finished up a late-year US jaunt last weekend--hasn't finalized plans for the Boston segment, the remaining dates for the trek are set, with the band kicking off the outing Feb. 20 in Los Angeles. The tour will hit 16 cities before heading back home. Dates are shown below.
Last year Dropkick Murphys offered up their sixth studio album, "The Meanest of Times," a self-produced set that is the inaugural release on the band's new Born & Bred Records label. The set features the single "The State of Massachusetts," and includes guest appearances from Spider Stacey of The Pogues and Ronnie Drew of The Dubliners.
"The Meanest of Times" follows the band's 2005 Hellcat release, "The Warrior's Code," which has shipped more than 200,000 copies, according to a press release.
The band released a limited-edition version of "The Meanest of Times" earlier this year, which includes five bonus tracks and a DVD containing a mini-documentary of the group's St. Patrick's Day charity breakfast in Boston, the music video for "The State of Massachusetts" and additional behind-the-scenes footage.
The Dropkick Murphys formed more than a decade ago in the Irish Catholic working-class neighborhoods of South Boston. The seven-member band has gone from playing in a barbershop basement to selling more than 1.5 million albums in the US.
