LeAnn Rimes starts filling in 2009 calendar

LeAnn Rimes , who wrapped her 2008 tour last month, is starting to assemble dates for the New Year.

So far, the country/crossover star has booked a handful of concerts that kick off Jan. 16 in Springfield, IL, and stretch through early May. Rimes will make her way across the US, stopping by cities in Colorado, Washington, California, Nevada and Oklahoma, and playing a few April shows in the Canadian province of Ontario. Details are listed below.

The Grammy-winning singer continues to support last year's "Family," which reached No. 4 on The Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart. The set marks the first time that Rimes has written or co-written every song, and she says she bared her soul in the material.

"What I've lived outside the whole fame and fortune world is real life, real relationships, hardships, pain and real honest emotion. That's where it's coming from," the performer explained in her bio. "It is exhilarating to know that what I'm putting out there is really me as an adult and not me as a kid singing someone else's songs."

The 26-year-old, who won her first set of Grammys at age 14, added that she sees "Family" as the first in what may become a trilogy.

"I feel like this may be the beginning of three records for me with this album being kind of the clarification, the next record being the growth and kind of sifting through where I'm at and where I'm going, and maybe the third record of eventually becoming a mom," she said. "It's like closing one chapter in my life and moving on to a whole other one."

The record's lead single, "Nothin' Better to Do," scored Rimes another country/crossover hit, and the followup, "Good Friend and a Glass of Wine," reached the Top 40 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. Those tracks and Rimes' latest single, "What I Cannot Change," are streaming at her MySpace page.

Rimes also has a song, "Here Comes Santa Claus," on the recently released "Elvis Presley Christmas Duets" album.

The performer, who counts acting among her many talents, is currently shooting the Lifetime network original movie "Northern Lights," which is based on a Nora Roberts novel. The film, co-starring Rosanna Arquette, is due next year.
