The Paul Green School of Rock [ tickets ] All-Stars will launch a 10th anniversary tour for the holidays, with three touring squads hitting rock clubs across the Northeast.

The shows, featuring "the best and brightest students" from Green's 45 schools across the country, will kick off the outing Dec. 26 with three shows in New York City; each touring squad will take a turn headlining before the all-star bands are sent off on their own separate tours. The various treks will hit 14 cities altogether, leading up to a "New Year's Eve blowout" in Asbury Park, NJ, where all three groups will reconvene one last time. Details are below.

"Even after all this time, all our expansion, and everything we have achieved," Green said in a statement, "the best way to teach kids to play music remains the same: load a bunch of them on a bus and take them out on the road to PLAY music.

"I put these shows together with real music fans in mind," he added. "Any true rock fan who comes to our show will be delighted by the deep cuts these kids take on, the difficult material they tackle, and the love and enthusiasm they bring to the stage."

Green established the school, the first of its kind in the US for kids 8-17 years old, in Philadelphia in 1998. The program has since branched out to more than 45 schools across the nation, according to a press release. Graduates include brother and sister Eric and Julie Slick, who are currently on tour with King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew, and guitarist CJ Tywoniak, one of the subjects of the 2005 documentary "Rock School," who is currently shopping his debut EP to record labels.
