Country heartthrob Gary Allan [ tickets ], who's been on the road most of the year, has stretched his ongoing tour through next May.

The singer is scheduled to wrap his 2008 itinerary next week, and then head into 2009 with more than a dozen US performances, launching Jan. 30 in Bossier City, LA. Since last check, he's added seven more stops, including Atlantic City; Cleveland; Biloxi, MS; and Virginia Beach, VA. Allan continues to support last year's "Living Hard," his seventh studio set for MCA Nashville. The album reached No. 3 on The Billboard 200 and has scored hits with "Watching Airplanes" and "Learning How to Bend." The current single, "She's So California," is currently holding a Top 40 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Allan said "Living Hard" is his most rockin' effort to date and contains more of his own songwriting than ever before.

"I just felt like I was growing so much and wanted the music to reflect that," the California-bred performer said in a statement. "I think the result has more of an edge."

Allan, who has been influenced by Bakersfield, CA's outlaw country movement, added, "I've got the edgy side of the country crowd--and I want to keep them."

Last year, the singer also offered up a best-of collection with two new songs, including crossover hit "A Feelin' Like That." The 15-track "Greatest Hits" set debuted at the top of Billboard's country albums chart, giving Allan back-to-back No. 1s following 2005's "Tough All Over."
