Brooks & Dunn cowboy up in the New Year
Brooks & Dunn have assembled their first round of tour dates for 2009, and hope to get the party started with another Grammy Award under their big belt buckles.
The country stars have booked a handful of North American shows that launch Feb. 16 in San Antonio, TX, and roll through a few California cities as well as Primm, NV, and Orillia, Ontario, through mid-March. An Australian tour follows in May, and Brooks & Dunn will be in Enterprise, AL, June 6 for the BMAJAM Festival. North American shows are listed below and those overseas can be found at the duo's website.
Last week, Brooks & Dunn scored a Grammy nomination for their single "God Must Be Busy" off their latest album, "Cowboy Town." The two-time Grammy winners will find out if they won the trophy for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group at the Feb. 8 ceremony in Los Angeles.
Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have been out for much of the year supporting 2007's "Cowboy Town," which landed at No. 4 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and reached No. 13 on The Billboard 200. The record has spawned hit singles including "Proud of the House We Built," "God Must Be Busy" and "Put a Girl in It," as well as the performers' latest hit, "Cowgirls Don't Cry." The latter tune, which features Reba McEntire, is currently climbing country charts and the video is streaming at Brooks & Dunn's website.
The duo has sold more than 30 million records, scored 23 No. 1 hits and is the most-awarded act in Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music history, according to Brooks & Dunn's bio. The entertainers also recently added "author" to their resumes as they released their first novel, "The Adventures of Slim and Howdy," over the summer. The book is based on the characters that have been traditionally featured in the prosaic liner notes of their albums.
