Britney Spears invites more fans to the 'Circus'

With tickets to her first tour in five years selling like hotcakes, Britney Spears keeps adding more shows to the mix.

The pop star is supporting her new No. 1 album, "Circus," with a North American arena tour that kicks off March 3 in New Orleans and crosses the US and Canada into May. Since last check, Spears has tacked on concerts in Oakland, CA, and Columbus, OH, as well as a second night in Uncasville, CT. Two-night stands are also booked in Newark, NJ; Anaheim, CA; Los Angeles; Toronto; and the Chicago area. The Pussycat Dolls are on board to open the trek, which is detailed below.

Following the North American leg of her "Circus Starring Britney Spears 2009 Tour," the singer will cross the Pond for a whopping eight-night engagement at London's O2 area. Information about those shows can be found at Spears' website.

"Circus" was released earlier this month on Spears' 27th birthday and sold 505,000 copies it first week out, enough to give the resurgent star her fifth No. 1 album. Since then, she's been trotting the globe to promote the set, performing hit single "Womanizer" on television shows in the US, Europe and Japan. That tune set a record for biggest jump to the top of The Billboard Hot 100 chart after rocketing from No. 96 to No. 1, according to the magazine.

Meanwhile, a number of other "Circus" cuts, including "Kill the Lights" and the title track, are making waves across a variety of music charts.

"Circus" follows last year's "Blackout," which peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and produced the award-winning single "Piece of Me." That set marked an initial comeback for Spears, who in recent years has garnered more headlines for her personal troubles than her musical endeavors.

Still, the singer is one of the best-selling artists of the last decade, and to date has sold more than 62 million albums worldwide, according to Jive Records.
