Ra Ra Riot crosses 'Line' into 2009
Indie chamber-rock act Ra Ra Riot have mapped out a slate of early 2009 concert dates as the band continues to support its debut album, "The Rhumb Line."
The six-piece group, which is from Syracuse, NY, launches into its 2009 schedule with a Jan. 22 appearance in New York City with Regina Spektor as part of a benefit show for Planned Parenthood. The band has about 20 appearances lined up through late March, including a March 8 slot at Miami's Langerado Festival, and a Feb. 27 San Francisco show, part of the city's six-day Noise Pop Festival.
"The Rhumb Line," which surfaced in August, was produced in Washington State by Ryan Hadlock (Stephen Malkmus, The Holy Ghost Procession). The set, released on the Seattle-based Barsuk label, peaked at No. 109 on The Billboard 200 chart.
The music video for the album's first single, "Dying Is Fine," can be viewed at the band's website.
The group released its self-titled debut EP in July last year, just over a month after the drowning death of drummer and co-founder John Ryan Pike in Fairhaven, MA. Ra Ra Riot issued a press statement shortly after Pike's death affirming its intention to continue as a band.
