Reverend Horton Heat fills in 2009 calendar

Psychobilly rockers Reverend Horton Heat , who have been assembling 2009 tour dates for a couple of months now, have extended their trek through next July.

The hard-touring trio will finish off its extensive 2008 jaunt with Dec. 30-31 shows in Houston and Austin, respectively. As previously reported, the Rev will start the New Year in late January with a three-week run of shows primarily in Colorado and California. Since last check, dates across the US and into Canada have been added in April, May and July, and the group has even booked next year's New Year's Eve celebration. Details are listed below.

Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Throw Rag and Manic Hispanic will trade off opening shows in January and February, and Nekromantix will take over in July.

Reverend Horton Heat--featuring guitarist/vocalist Jim Heath, upright bassist Jimbo Wallace and drummer Paul Simmons--released its most recent proper studio album, "Revival," in 2004. The musicians followed that in 2005 with their first-ever Christmas offering, "We Three Kings."

Last year saw the release of a 15-song set titled "20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Reverend Horton Heat," which features tracks from the trio's two releases on Interscope: 1996's "It's Martini Time" and 1998's "Space Heater."

Heath has also spent time this year working on his side-project, Reverend Organdrum, which focuses on vintage American music. That trio, featuring five-time Grammy-winner Tim Alexander on Hammond organ and Todd Soesbe on drums, released its debut album, "Hi-Fi Stereo," in January.
