The Watson Twins stoke 'Fire' on headlining trek
Folk/country act The Watson Twins have lined up an early 2009 outing behind their debut studio album from last year, "Fire Songs."
The Los Angeles-based pair of identical twin sisters--Chandra and Leigh Watson--kicks off the outing Feb. 16 in Omaha, NE, with a total of 16 dates lined up through early March. Dates are below.
"Fire Songs," the twins' full-length debut, hit stores in June of last year. The set was recorded in the fall of 2007 in Los Angeles, with produced Russell Pollard (Sebadoh, Folk Implosion) and J. Soda (Slydell, Everest) manning the studio boards. The album was released on influential folk and blues label Vanguard, which the pair cites as a major influence on its music.
"Our influences as singers and songwriters are the historic sounds of Vanguard Records, a label steeped in folk, country, jazz and blues," the sisters wrote in their online bio.
"It just seemed like the perfect fit and we are so honored to be working with them on our debut full length," they added.
The Watson Twins released their debut EP, "Southern Manners," in 2006, the same year they collaborated with Rilo Kiley singer Jenny Lewis on "Rabbit Fur Coat." The duo toured extensively with Lewis in 2006.
