Eagles land more 'Long Road' gigs
The Eagles have added a few more dates to their upcoming North American jaunt ahead of next week's launch.
The veteran rockers, who wrapped their 2008 "Long Road Out of Eden Tour" last month, will return to the road Jan. 12 in Hampton, VA, and play a dozen US performances around the East Coast and South through the month's end. Their itinerary then skips into March, when they have another dozen shows on deck primarily in the Midwest and Canada. Since last check, dates have been added in Moline, IL, and the Detroit and Chicago areas. Details are listed below. Tickets for the new shows go on sale next Monday (1/12).
Tickets for many of the concerts will be sold at the advertised price with no additional convenience fees as part of a new "all-in ticketing" program through Ticketmaster (LiveDaily's parent company). The program was announced in November after Ticketmaster acquired a controlling stake in Irving Azoff's Front Line Management Group, which counts the Eagles among its list of clients. Azoff is the CEO of the new entity, dubbed Ticketmaster Entertainment.
The Eagles have also booked a six-week tour of Europe that kicks off in late May. Information about those dates can be found at the band's website.
The ongoing trek finds Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit performing classic Eagles songs, hits from their solo careers and tunes from last year's "Long Road Out of Eden," which marked the band's first collection of new material in 28 years. The 2008 outing to support the album was the No. 3 top-selling tour in North America, with $73.4 million in tickets sold, according to concert trade publication Pollstar.
The two-disc "Long Road Out of Eden" topped The Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums chart, and has gone seven-times platinum with the help of hit singles "Busy Being Fabulous" and "How Long," the latter of which scored the Eagles their fifth Grammy Award.
