Phish unveils reunion tour plans

Phish has announced details for the band's summer reunion tour, which will follow the reunited quartet's first live shows in five years.

The tour, which kicks off June 4-5 in Wantagh, NY, follows a three-night run of warm-up shows beginning March 6 in Hampton, VA. The band will hit eight cities on the summer trek, with additional destinations including Mansfield, MA (6/6), Camden, NJ (6/7), Asheville, NC (6/9), St. Louis, MO (6/16), Burgettstown, PA (6/18), Noblesville, IN (6/19), and two shows in East Troy, WI (6/20-21).

A limited number of pre-sale tickets are available through the band's online ticketing system through Jan. 17; consult the group's website for further details. Tickets go on sale to the public beginning Jan. 30.

The group has been in rehearsals for the reunion since November, following a summer that found the band busy dealing with comeback rumors that had spread among fans. Although the group members neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, keyboardist Paige McConnell issued an official statement on behalf of the band in June that seemed to point the way toward an eventual reunion of some sort.

"The prospect of Phish reuniting is something I consider very seriously, and I think about it a lot," McConnell said at the time. The band announced in October that it would tour in 2009, a month after the four musicians--O'Connell, guitarist/vocalist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon and drummer Jon Fishman--reunited unofficially to perform three songs at the wedding of the band's longtime road manager, Brad Sands, according to a report in Relix magazine.

Meanwhile, the group is preparing to release a mammoth, seven-DVD set of its 1996 Clifford Ball concert, held on a decommissioned Air Force base in Plattsburgh, NY. The set features nine hours of music culled from the band's six sets during the concert, as well as additional soundcheck footage and a 30-minute behind-the-scenes documentary. The DVD will be released March 3.
