Ben Folds maps quick winter trek

Ben Folds has lined up a few dates in February as he continues to support his latest studio release, last fall's "Way to Normal."

The singer/songwriter/pianist kicks off the brief outing Feb. 11 in Princeton, NJ. The five-city trek also includes stops in Philadelphia (2/14), Pittsburgh (2/16), Toronto (2/17) and Columbus, OH (2/21). Details, including venues, are included below.

Released in September, "Way to Normal" was produced by Dennis Herring (Elvis Costello, Modest Mouse) and features Folds on vocals and piano with bassist Jared Reynolds and drummer Sam Smith. Guest vocalist Regina Spektor appears on the album's first single, "You Don't Know Me."

The performer intentionally leaked an incomplete version of "Way to Normal" to the Internet in July. The leak consisted of alternate versions of some legitimate songs from the new album along with several uncharacteristically melodramatic tracks. Although Folds' fans argued among themselves online as to the veracity of the leak, the singer/pianist later said that he had leaked the fake version of the album as a joke on fans.

"We wrote completely new songs around the titles," Folds told LiveDaily in October. "The lyrics were written basically in the airport on the airplane on the way from the continent to the UK. We booked a studio. We recorded for eight, 10 hours. We completely mixed, mastered, released to the Internet instantly. Sort of, we proved you could make and release an album in three or four days."
