K.D. Lang embarks on 'Watershed' year
After a winter break, K.D. Lang will resume touring in support of her latest album, "Watershed."
Since last check, the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter has expanded her spring trek to include 15 US cities on both coasts. She'll spend late March in Oregon, Washington and California and then traverse the East Coast through early May. Details are listed below.
"Watershed," which debuted at No. 8 on The Billboard 200 last February, marks Lang's 10th studio album and her first time assuming the role of sole producer in addition to singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. In putting together the 11-song collection of originals, the performer said she didn't feel the need to be genre specific.
"'Watershed' is like a culmination of everything I've done--there's a little bit of jazz, a little country, a little of the 'Ingenue' sound, a little Brazilian touch," Lang explained in her bio. "It really feels like the way I hear music, this mash-up of genres, and I think it reflects all the styles that have preceded this in my catalogue."
The album also comes in a deluxe edition featuring four live performances and an exclusive video interview with Lang. A few tunes from the set are streaming at the singer's MySpace page.
"Watershed" follows Lang's 2004 Nonesuch Records debut, "Hymns of the 49th Parallel," on which she interprets songs from fellow Canadian artists including Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Leonard Cohen.
