Joshua Radin hits his stride on the road
Singer/songwriter Joshua Radin has extended his 2009 outing into late March, with another round of US dates added to the fold as well as a run through Europe.
As previously reported, Radin will co-headline a dozen East Coast shows with songbird Dar Williams starting Jan. 21 in Rochester, NY. Once those performances wrap Feb. 4 in Gainesville, FL, Radin will segue into his own jaunt, playing more than 20 US clubs and theaters from coast to coast into March, and finishing up the month with a two-week tour of Europe. Stateside dates are listed below and those overseas can be found at Radin's website.
The performer has been out supporting his sophomore set, "Simple Times," which hit stores in late September and debuted at No. 34 on The Billboard 200. The album was produced by Rob Schnapf (Elliot Smith, Beck) and the legendary Rick Rubin, and features guests including Patty Griffin. Lead single "I'd Rather Be With You" is streaming at Radin's MySpace page along with a few other tracks from the record.
The singer got his big break in 2004 when a friend gave his demo to a TV producer, who used Radin's first composition, "Winter," to score a scene of the sitcom "Scrubs," according to his bio. Soon, various Radin songs were being heard on TV shows including "Grey's Anatomy," "Brothers and Sisters," "American Idol," "One Tree Hill," "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Eli Stone," as well as movies including "The Nanny Diaries," "The Last Kiss" and "Catch and Release."
Radin's 2006 debut album, "We Were Here," was originally an indie release that became a hit on iTunes and prompted a major-label bidding war, according to his bio. He signed on with Columbia Records, which re-released the album in its original form.
With his new effort on Mom & Pop Records, Radin said he's finally found his stage legs.
"I feel like right about now, I'm starting to hit my stride, which is cool," the singer said in a statement. "With this record, I feel like I can come out and say, 'OK, I'm a fully formed artist now.' I just hope that other people like it as much as I like it."
