The Killers extend 'Day' trip with second leg of dates
The Killers have announced a second leg of dates for their current tour in support of the band's latest opus, "Day & Age," which surfaced last fall.
The Las Vegas-based group--which continues its current tour leg tonight (1/20) in Chicago--launches the next installment of the trek April 16 in Phoenix. The new dates add 16 fresh cities to the outing, which now runs well into May. Details are below.
The group worked with Scottish electronic-music whiz Stuart Price (Madonna, Missy Elliot) on "Day & Age," its third album and proper follow-up to 2006's "Sam's Town" (The band released "Sawdust," a collection of studio outtakes and b-sides, last year).
"I'm not saying this is some kind of 'pamphlet for my generation,' but you always try to capture your surroundings and what's going on right now," singer Brandon Flowers told online mag thequietus.com in October. "So it needs to be universal. There are questions asked. I think it's implied in the songs that I feel what we're losing is ... humanity. The way we now connect with each other through electronics, we're missing out on hugs and kisses ... that's part of it. We don't seem to be as ... romantic. And that's important."
Released in September, the album peaked at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 chart, and has sold almost a half-million copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Worldwide, the set has sold 1.6 million copies.
