Il Divo expand 'Promise' to more US cities
Orchestral pop quartet Il Divo has added new dates to its upcoming tour of the US and Canada in support of the group's latest studio effort, "The Promise."
The North American portion of the world tour, which gets underway in Europe late next month, kicks off April 28 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, hitting several Canadian cities before setting up shop on the US East Coast. The new bookings extend the 40-plus-date tour through late July. Details are below.
Following the American outing, the group will wrap up the year with performances in Australia, Japan and Southeast Asia; the complete current overseas itinerary is available at Il Divo's website.
Released late last year, "The Promise" debuted at No. 1 in five countries and entered the US album chart at No. 5. The set features versions of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "The Power of Love," Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" and ABBA's "Winner Takes It All."
The new album comes after a nearly year-long break that followed three years of non-stop work. Since being brought together in 2004 by Simon Cowell of "American Idol" fame, American tenor David Miller, French pop singer Sebastien Izambard, Swiss tenor Urs Buhler and Spanish baritone Carlos Marin have traveled all over the world.
"We felt calling the album 'The Promise' really echoed our sentiments about making a pledge to our fans, by taking a break and promising to return with an album better than any we have before," Izambard said in a statement.
