Jimmy Buffett's in the mood for summer

Jimmy Buffett is getting an early start on his "2009 Summerzcool Tour," with dates kicking off next month.

So far, the leader of the Parrotheads has late-February shows booked on the Hawaiian islands of Maui and Oahu, where he'll be on hand to open his latest Margaritaville Restaurant, according to the Honolulu Advertiser. Buffett's initial schedule also includes April dates in North Carolina and an August gig in Clarkston, MI. Confirmed concerts are listed below, and updates can be found at the performer's website.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday (1/31) and $1 from each reportedly will go to Buffett's "Singing for Change" charity, which offers grants to community-based non-profit organizations that address the root causes of social and environmental problems.

Buffett continues to support his latest studio effort, 2006's country-leaning "Take the Weather With You," which became his second consecutive No. 1 debut on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. He followed that with a couple of live sets: the three-disc dual CD/DVD "Live in Anguilla" and "Live at Texas Stadium."

Last summer, Buffett put out the "Scenes You Know by Heart" DVD, which captures live performances of songs from his 1985 multi-platinum set, "Songs You Know by Heart." The DVD includes two bonus cuts: "Hey Good Lookin" and the Grammy-nominated hit "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere."

Later this year, Buffett plans to release a live acoustic CD comprising songs he traditionally performs in the final encore of each show, according to various reports.
