Alan Jackson gives fans more of a 'Good Time'
Alan Jackson , who's still riding high on the success of his latest album, "Good Time," is ready to roll out his 2009 tour dates.
The country star will start Saturday (2/7) with a gig at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and follow that up with a March 4 performance at RodeoHouston. He currently has 10 US cities on his calendar scattered through September. Details are listed below.
Jackson spent most of last year traveling around North America to support "Good Time," his 17th studio album and fourth to debut simultaneously at No. 1on The Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums chart. The set has earned the singer his longest streak of No. 1 hits since the mid-90s, with the title track, "Small Town Southern Man" and "Country Boy" shooting to the top of the Hot Country Songs chart.
"Good Time," which reunited Jackson with longtime collaborator Keith Stegall, also marks the first time the superstar has been the sole writer of all the songs on an album. The effort pushed the 20-year music veteran over the 50-million mark in sales last fall.
In case he wasn't already overwhelmed with all the accolades surrounding his new album, Jackson spent the end of last year being honored on the Country Music Television program "CMT Giants: Alan Jackson." A host of performers including George Strait, Brad Paisley, Martina McBride, Lee Ann Womack and Taylor Swift were on hand to pay tribute.
"Typically, your career is over or you're dead before they do something like this, so I'm very lucky to have it at this point," Jackson said of the honor, according to a press release.
The easy-going performer has more than 100 major industry awards to his credit, including three Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year trophies. Jackson is also the most-nominated artist in CMA history, according to a press release.
