Estelle follows Grammy win with US tour
British singer/songwriter/rapper/producer Estelle , who's riding high on her first Grammy win, will hit the road later this month for a three-week North American jaunt.
The performer, who recently wrapped a US tour supporting John Legend, will bring her brand of hip-hop, R&B, pop and reggae to more than a dozen US cities from coast to coast, as well as Vancouver. The trek starts Feb. 21 in Swarthmore, PA, and stops by markets including Baltimore, Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, San Francisco, Dallas, New Orleans and Atlanta. Details are listed below.
Estelle is supporting her US debut, "Shine," which surfaced a year ago and made the Top 40 on The Billboard 200. The set spawned the singer's breakthrough hit, "American Boy" featuring Kanye West, which snagged the trophy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at last weekend's Grammy Awards. Estelle and the platinum-selling single have also collected honors including the BETJ Virtual Award for Song of the Year, a World Music Award for World's Best New R&B Act, an Urban Music Award for Best Collaboration, an O2 Silver Clef Award for Download of the Year, and a pair of MOBO Awards for Best UK Female and Best Song.
Next, the singer and "American Boy" are up for two Brit Awards--Best Female and Best Single--at the February 18 ceremony in London, where Estelle will perform with the Ting Tings.
"Shine" is the premiere release from John Legend's Homeschool Records label, a partnership with Atlantic Records. Executive produced by Legend and Atlantic chief Craig Kallman, the album features production from an array of studio pros, including Mark Ronson, Wyclef Jean, Swizz Beatz, will.i.am and Supa Dups. Special guests joining Estelle in front of the mic include Legend, Sean Paul, Cee-Lo and acclaimed Canadian dancehall/hip-hop MC Kardinal Offishall.
Songs from the set, including "American Boy" and Estelle's latest single, "Come Over," are streaming at her MySpace page.
In addition to appearing on a host of television talk shows as of late, Estelle is drumming up publicity as one of the celebrities featured in the global brand campaign for the Adidas Originals line of shoes and apparel. Additional promotional campaigns featuring the busy singer will be announced shortly, according to a press release.
