The Tragically Hip plots busy tour schedule ahead of album
Canadian alt-rockers The Tragically Hip have lined up a lengthy spring and summer concert run behind their latest studio album, which is due to surface next month.
The veteran band, which was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2005, kicks off the trek with a three-night engagement in Kitchener, Ontario, beginning April 27. The group has lined up 11 multi-night performances during the tour, which features 43 appearances in 22 cities and ends in September with a pair of nights (9/21-24) in Calgary, Alberta.
There will be no opening act on the outing; instead, the group will perform two sets each night consisting of 13-14 songs, with a 20-minute intermission between the sets. Dates are below.
On the road, the band will be supporting "We Are the Same," its forthcoming 11th studio album in a 20-year recording career that began with 1989's "Up to Here." The set, recorded in Bath, Ontario, with Canadian studio ace Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi), is due in stores April 7.
Fans who pre-order the album through the band's website will receive a bonus CD, "Live From the Vault: Volume 4," featuring a recording of the band's December 2004 show in Brussels, Belgium.
After more than 25 years together with its original lineup, The Tragically Hip has sold more than 6 million albums worldwide and won a dozen Juno Awards (Canada's version of the Grammys)--more than any other act, according to the New York Press.
