Destiny’s Child, Eve and Mary J. Blige topped the field by picking up three Soul Train Lady of Soul Award nominations apiece on Tuesday (8/1). The winners will be announced during a Sept. 2 ceremony in Santa Monica, Calif., which will be videotaped live for a two-hour, prime time television special.

Vocal group Destiny’s Child--which was whittled from a quartet to a trio last month with the departure of Farrah Franklin--is nominated for Best R&B/Soul Single, Group, Band or Duo ("Say My Name"), R&B/Soul Album of the Year, Group, Band or Duo ("The Writing's on the Wall") and R&B/Soul or Rap Song of the Year ("Say My Name)."

Rapper Eve picked up nods for R&B/Soul Album of the Year, Solo ("Let There Be Eve--Ruff Ryders' First Lady"); Best R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist, Solo ("Gotta Man"); and Best R&B/Soul or Rap Music Video ("Love Is Blind," featuring Faith Evans).

Hip-hop soul singer Mary J. Blige is nominated for R&B/Soul Single, Solo ("All That I Can Say"), R&B/Soul Album of the Year, Solo (“Mary”) and R&B/Soul or Rap Song of the Year ("All That I Can Say").

TLC, Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, Yolanda Adams, Angie Stone, Mary Mary, and Jazzyfatnastees picked up two nominations each.

Toni Braxton will be presented with the Aretha Franklin Award for Entertainer of the Year. The Lena Horne Award for Outstanding Career Achievements will go to actress Halle Berry.

The ceremonies will be co-hosted by Sisqo and soap opera star Shemar Moore.

The Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards are “designed to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of female recording artists exclusively and is the only awards show concept of its kind currently in existence,” according to Don Cornelius Productions.
