Howard Jones Tour To Proceed Despite Drummer's Death

Howard Jones will return to the U.S. for a brief string of shows, just a week after his drummer Kevin Wilkinson committed suicide. In a statement issued Wednesday (7/29) by Jones' U.S. label, Ark 21, Dylan Howe, the son of former Yes guitarist Steve Howe, was named as Jones' drummer for the tour.

Wilkinson took his life on July 17th, just after completing a brief tour of the U.S. with Jones. Wilkinson, 41, had played with Jones for a year. Before playing with Jones, Wilkinson played with the Waterboys, Squeeze and the Proclaimers.

Jones is touring behind 1998's People, his first new studio work in six years, which coincided with a package tour featuring Jones, a reunited Culture Club and the Human League. According to Jones' official web site (www.howardjones.com), a new live album is being prepared for release later this year.
