Prognosis Good For Injured Beastie Boy Mike D
Mike Diamond (a.k.a. Mike D) of the Beastie Boys was released from Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City on Wednesday (8/2) after his right shoulder was surgically reconstructed. All indications are that the procedure, known as an AC joint reconstruction, was a success, according to an announcement posted to the official Beastie Boys website.
Doctors have ordered Diamond to keep his shoulder in a sling for four to six weeks, and the doctors expect him to be fully healed within about three months, according to the announcement.
A planned co-headlining tour featuring the Beastie Boys and Rage Against the Machine was postponed last month after Mike D was injured in a bike-riding accident.
It's expected that the tour will be rescheduled soon. In the meantime, ticket-holders can obtain refunds from their point-of-purchase, the announcement said.
