Foxy Brown's Big House Release

Foxy Brown isn't going to let sitting behind bars stand in the way of her career. The rapper, who was sentenced last week to one year at Riker's Island, releases a new CD Nov. 20. "Brooklyn's Don Diva" will be released as scheduled, and will be heavily promoted, according to a statement by Brown’s manager, Chaz Williams.

The Koch/Black Hand Entertainment CD is Brown's first album in six years. It is also her first project away from Jay-Z's Def Jam label. Brown launched her career in 1996 with the Def Jam release "Ill Na Na," recorded when she was 16.

Brown violated probation that stemmed from an incident at a beauty salon. Two manicurists claimed she kicked them and smacked them around. She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault charges. In a statement about her incarceration, Brown said, "This is just a temporary situation. I made my bed and have no problem lying in it. ... I think there are greater injustices in America that require our immediate attention, like what's going on in Jena, Louisiana. I will not surrender, I'm fine, free Jena Six !"
