'NSync, Britney Spears, Others Honored At Teen Choice Awards
‘N Sync on Sunday (8/6) scored four awards at the second annual Teen Choice Awards ceremony. Britney Spears , Backstreet Boys and Sisqo were also among those who won awards in the event’s musical categories.
‘N Sync’s “It’s Gonna Be Me” won both the Song of the Summer and Choice Music Video categories, and the group’s hit “Bye Bye Bye” took the award for Choice Single. The group itself, meanwhile, won the award for Choice Pop Group, and group member Justin Timberlake was crowned Male Hottie of the Year.
Racking up two wins apiece were Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and Sisqo. Spears scored in both the Choice Female Artist and Female Hottie of the Year categories, while Simpson was named Choice Breakout Artist and her song “Where You Are” was dubbed Choice Love Song. Sisqo, meanwhile, was named Choice Male Artist, and his hit single “Thong Song” won the Choice Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B Track category.
Blink-182 walked away with one award for Choice Rock Group.
Award winners were selected via ballots printed in the July and August issues of Seventeen, BOP, Teen Beat, Tiger Beat and Sixteen magazines, as well as by online voting at Seventeen magazine’s website, according to a publicist for the event. In addition to the music categories, awards for movie, television and sports were also presented.
The ceremony, which took place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., will air on FOX on Tuesday, Aug. 22. Musical performances by Enrique Iglesias, 98 Degrees, No Doubt and BBMAK are scheduled.
