Beastie Boys And Rage Against The Machine Clarify Refund Information For Postponed Tour

Rage Against the Machine and Beastie Boys , in an effort to end confusion for fans who purchased tickets to the now postponed Rhyme & Reason 2000 tour, have posted on their official websites detailed information on how ticketholders can obtain refunds.

Both the Beastie Boys’ and Rage Against the Machine’s websites are listing the phone numbers of Ticketmaster offices in the markets where tickets to the tour were sold. Fans who want a refund are instructed to call their local Ticketmaster office for details, according to the websites.

Though both bands’ websites still indicate that the tour itself is postponed, previously scheduled shows in New York, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois and Ohio have all officially been canceled, according to ticketmaster.com and a number of venue spokespeople.

Dates in Toronto, Michigan, Indiana, Florida and Georgia, meanwhile, are still listed as postponed, according to ticketmaster.com and a spokesperson for House of Blues concerts in Toronto.

The choice to call a show canceled rather than postponed is generally an indication as to whether a local promoter expects to be able to schedule a new performance date in the same venue. Rhyme and Reason dates confirmed as canceled include tour stops at RFK Stadium, Giants Stadium and Foxboro Stadium, all of which could present availability or weather problems later in the year when the tour is expected to materialize.

A spokesperson at the Darien Lakes Amphitheater in Buffalo, N.Y., said the show at that venue was canceled rather than postponed because the venue will be closed for the season three months from now when their stop on the tour is expected to take place.

The Rhyme & Reason 2000 tour was postponed after Beastie Boys ’ Mike Diamond severely injured his shoulder in a bicycling accident. Diamond underwent surgery last week, and is expected to recover in roughly three months.

In other news, Beastie Boys’ website states that the group is set to release a 2-CD DVD anthology of its music videos on Oct. 10.
