Indigenous To Open Three Dave Matthews Band Concerts
Indigenous , currently in the middle of its own North American summer tour, has landed the opening slot for three Dave Matthews Band shows, according to Indigenous’s official website. The Native American rock act is also scheduled to open an upcoming show for Los Lobos, and two dates for Vertical Horizon.
Indigenous will open the Aug. 19 and Aug. 20 Dave Matthews Band concerts in Wisconsin, as well as the Aug. 22 show in Ohio. Irish singer-songwriter David Gray was originally scheduled to open those shows, but withdrew from the tour for undisclosed reasons, according to a spokesperson for Gray's record label.
The group will kick off the month of September by opening for Los Lobos on Sept. 1 at Humboldt State University in Calif. Two opening dates for Vertical Horizon--the first on Sept. 5 in Atlanta, the second on Sept. 11 in North Carolina--are also on the band’s itinerary.
Indigenous’ headlining tour of small venues is currently scheduled to run until Oct. 30.
Hailing from South Dakota, Indigenous is comprised of brothers Mato Nanji (guitars, vocals) and Pte (bass), sister Wanbdi (drums) and cousin Horse (percussion). The group is touring in support of its latest disc “Circle,” which was released in May. “Circle” is the follow-up to the band’s 1998 national debut “Things We Do.”
