Stone Temple Pilots Reunion Brewing

Grunge-era rock icons Stone Temple Pilots, who broke up back in 2003, are eyeing a reunion expected to yield a batch of summer concerts, according to reports.

Word first surfaced after ex-STP/current Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland, while on hand at the Jan. 19 AROD Family Foundation benefit in South Beach, FL, told the Miami Herald that fans should "be on the lookout for an STP reunion in the coming months," according to MiamiHerald.com.

Days later, ex-Guns N' Roses/current Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash reportedly told Billboard.com that Weiland is planning to rejoin his former STP bandmates for a "handful of summer reunion shows."

Before the seemingly imminent STP reunion takes place, Weiland is expected to remain at the helm of Velvet Revolver during the group's in-progress winter tour, which supports the band's sophomore album, last year's "Libertad."
