Scorpions Head To The U.S. For Orchestral Performances

Scorpions are set to hit the western United States next month for four concerts that will feature the German rock act performing with an orchestra, according to a press release from Angel Records. “Moment of Glory,” the band’s latest album, is a collaboration with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and is set for a U.S. release this month.

Late September performances in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco are planned, with a local orchestra in each city accompanying the band.

In June, Scorpions performed with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra during the opening ceremony of Germany’s Expo 2000 World Fair. “Moment of Glory”--featuring a number of Scorpions hits--was released in Europe shortly thereafter, and has since reached the Top Five on the charts in four countries, according to Angel.

Set for release on Aug. 29, “Moment of Glory” contains orchestral interpretations of such Scorpions hits as “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and “Wind of Change,” as well as the newly minted title track and a cover version of the Diane Warren ballad “Here in My Heart." The album has been in the works for five years, the label said.

Pollstar reports that Night Ranger will be the opening act for Scorpions on the upcoming string of orchestra dates.
