Jammy Awards At Madison Square Garden

The 7th annual Jammy Awards--an alternative awards show that honors the best in live improvisational music--will be held again this year at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, according to a press release. The May 7 concert and awards ceremony will feature eight award categories: Album of the year, Song of the Year, DVD of the Year, Download of the Year, Best New Artist, Tour of the Year, Live Show of the Year, and Archival Release of the Year. The 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Phish in honor of their 20-year touring and recording career. Previous Jammy Lifetime Achievement Award winners include B.B. King, The Grateful Dead, Buddy Guy, Steve Winwood, Frank Zappa and The Meters. This year's award nominees, as well as performers for this year's concert, will be announced in the coming weeks.
