Alanis Morissette Focuses On Music With New Album
Alanis Morissette is expected to release a new album, "Flavors of Entanglement," May 20, four years after her last studio release of original material.
In addition to touring and recording her own material, Morissette has collaborated over the years with Ringo Starr, Dave Matthews Band and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Last year, her parody/cover of the Black Eyed Peas' hit "My Humps" on YouTube was one of the top downloads of '07, according to a press release; the video has been viewed more than 12 million times.
Morissette also has spent some time acting on stage, in films and on television. Her acting work included roles on "Sex and the City," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Nip/Tuck." She also appeared as God in the film "Dogma," and recently completed her first lead role in the film adaptation of Philip K. Dick's novel "Radio Free Albemuth."
Morissette, who has been touring with Matchbox Twenty, will hit the road in June for a worldwide tour that begins in Europe to be followed by North America in the fall.
