Neil Diamond To Play Fenway Park

Just days after unveiling plans for a new album and world tour, veteran singer Neil Diamond has announced that he'll give a summer performance at Boston's legendary Fenway Park baseball stadium.

The Aug. 23 show is the only confirmed date so far for Diamond's 2008 North American outing. Ticket information will be announced at his website, according to a press release.

Diamond revealed the news to Red Sox fans at the team's home-opener on Tuesday (4/8) via a pre-recorded message that played on the ballpark's video screen during the eight-inning sing-a-long to his classic hit "Sweet Caroline," a longtime ritual at the ballpark.

Diamond's new album, "Home Before Dark," is due in stores May 6.
