New Album Releases, Aug. 22
Wyclef Jean leads this week’s pack of new album releases with “The Ecleftic - 2 Sides II a Book” (Columbia), the follow-up to his critically acclaimed 1997 solo debut “The Carnival.” According to the album’s track listing, “The Ecleftic” features guest appearances by Earth, Wind & Fire and Mary J. Blige.
To mark the release of his latest disc, the Fugee-gone-solo is set to perform a free concert in New York City’s Harlem district on Tuesday (8/22) at 5pm, according to his official website.
(hed)p.e. releases “Broke” (Jive), the follow-up to its 1997 self-titled album, this week. The group will kick off the album’s release with several in-store appearances in Southern California, according to the band’s official website, and is then set to head out on a month-long tour opening for Papa Roach.
Incubus is set to release “Incubus Attacks, Vol. 1 [EP]” (Jive), a six-song disc that contains new versions of previously released material, including both an acoustic and a live version of the group’s hit “Pardon Me.” The band is scheduled to perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7.
Cleopatra’s latest, “Steppin’ Up” (Maverick), is the sophomore effort from this British trio. The three sisters released their first album “Comin’ Atcha” in 1997.
Mobb Deep member Prodigy ’s first solo effort “H.N.I.C.” (Loud) hits shelves this week. The rapper plans to release a motion picture titled “H.N.I.C.” that he wrote and directed, according to an interview on Loud’s website.
Oglio Records releases the compilation album “Deep Porn” this week. The disc pairs rap stars with porn stars, and features tracks from Kid Rock, George Clinton and Cypress Hill’s D.J. Muggs.
“Never Let the Bastards Wear You Down” (KOCH) is the latest from former Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider. Snider, who is the weekly host of a successful ‘80s metal radio show called “House of Hair,” says on his official website that he would like to have a Twisted Sister reunion at some point.
