The Edge [ tickets ] recently announced the Icons of Music Sale II to benefit Music Rising will take place May 31 at the Hard Rock Cafe New York in Times Square.

The second annual music memorabilia charity auction will be hosted by the U2 [ tickets ] guitarist with proceeds benefiting the campaign he co-founded in 2005 to aid musicians of the Gulf Coast Region in regaining their livelihood after the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, according to a press release.

Aaron Neville [ tickets ], who has joined the Music Rising campaign and helped bring attention to some of the charity work being done in New Orleans, will appear at the Icons of Music Sale II, and will perform at the evening session.

The auction will be webcast live in streaming video, allowing people from around the world the ability to bid in real-time on items including a 1976 Gibson Explorer guitar the Edge has used in many stage performances (estimated value $80,000 and up). The Edge also donated his silver U2 block rings featured on the cover of "Atchung Baby" ($2,000/4,000), a blue Gibson Les Paul electric guitar used in many studio recordings ($20,000/40,000) along with an assortment of property donated by his fellow band members.

Among the other items up for auction will be a Kurt Cobain-played early bass guitar with home photos of him playing it ($40,000/60,000), a Jim Morrision handwritten poem ($4,000/6,000), a Miles Davis stage-played trumpet ($10,000/20,000), a Jimi Hendrix signature on a receipt ($2,000/3,000), Slash's Gibson Les Paul first played on stage with Velvet Revolver ($20,000/30,000), a Bob Dylan handwritten set list ($2,000/4,000), and four D.A. Millings suits worn by wax figures of the Beatles at Madame Tussauds museum ($60,000/80,000).

Additional highlights include items once owned by Paul McCartney, Bono, Madonna, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Page and Pete Townshend among numerous others.
