Detroit Electronic Music Fest Set For Memorial Day Weekend

The Detroit Electronic Music Festival , Movement 08, featuring nearly 100 acts including Moby , Benny Benassi , Carl Craig and Dubfire , is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, May 24-26, at Hart Plaza. Event producers said in a statement that Movement 08 promises to be an innovative festival featuring several new elements.

This year's fest will feature four stages: the vitaminwater Stage, the Beatport stage, the Real Detroit stage and the Red Bull stage. The Red Bull stage and the Beatport stage represent two of the most significant improvements to this year's festival, according to promoters. Both stages feature new structures designed to improve fans' listening and dancing experiences.

Movement 08 heralds Detroit's heritage as the birthplace of techno, according to event producers. However several artists are coming in from other parts of the world, including Berlin. "We're attentive to the pulse of the music community, so we can present artists that expand Movement's dream--and expose audiences to the spectrum of diverse genres within the electronic music scene," said an event spokesperson.

Additional acts on Movement 08's roster include Dieselboy & MC Messinian, Richie Hawtin, Deadmau5, Derek Plaslaiko, Girl Talk, Josh Wink, Keith Worthy and numerous others.
