Burning Spear Touring The U.S. And Canada
Legendary reggae artist Burning Spear and his band are currently touring the U.S. in support of his latest album, “Calling Rastafari.” The extensive tour, which kicked off in July, still has nearly 60 dates left before it is scheduled to wrap-up in Washington D.C. on Nov. 12.
The tour continues Thursday night (8/24) in Athens, Ga., and will travel the South through the end of August. Burning Spear and company then head west, where their September schedule begins with a Sept. 1 date in New Mexico, and subsequent dates throughout the western U.S. and Canada.
The group will spend most of the first half of October in Colorado and California, and will then make stops in Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, Kansas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
November consists of five nights in Florida, two in Massachusetts, and the scheduled finale in Washington D.C.
At the tour’s July 12 kick-off in New York City, Burning Spear was joined on stage by R&B songstress Erykah Badu, according to a press release. The two performed Spear’s “Jah No Dead.”
In conjunction with his touring schedule, Burning Spear has both a concert webcast and online chat scheduled for next month. The House of Blues website will air a pay-per-view webcast of his Sept. 9 performance at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on Friday, Sept. 28. The webcast will be preceded by a live chat on Thursday, Sept. 27.
Burning Spear has released 34 albums over the course of his career, according to a statement. His latest album, “Calling Rastafari” was released last year, and won the Grammy award for Reggae Album of the Year.
