Patty Loveless Readies New Album

Patty Loveless ' 19th album, "Sleepless Nights," is scheduled for a Sept. 9 release. The album, the singer's first in three years, features 14 songs Loveless and her husband, Emory Gordy Jr., culled from a pool of nearly 500 classic selections, according to a press release.

Loveless calls the album "a little bit of a history lesson," capturing the stories behind the country music she listened to growing up in rural eastern Kentucky.

The title cut--originally recorded by The Everly Brothers and also recorded as a duet by Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, is one selection Loveless felt would inspire and remind people of "what country is made of." Other cuts Loveless selected to record for the album include George Jones' "Color of the Blues," Hank Williams' "Cold, Cold Heart" and Webb Pierce's "There Stands the Glass."
