Slipknot Leads American Pack At U.K. Metal Awards
LONDON--Shock rock act Slipknot received three gongs at the annual Kerrang! Awards ceremony which was held in London on Tuesday (8/29). Readers of the British metal publication awarded the mask-wearing nine-member group from Des Moines, Iowa, with Best Single for "Wait and Bleed" and also dubbed them Best International Live Act and Best Band in the World.
Other Americans who triumphed this year include Deftones , who won Best Album for their recently released "White Pony," Blink-182, who scooped Best Video for "All the Small Things" and Queens of the Stone Age, who was voted Best International Newcomer.
Post-grunge veterans Foo Fighters received the Classic Songwriter award and Marilyn Manson, who attended the ceremony, was voted into the Kerrang! Hall of Fame.
Power-punk trio the Stereophonics was also voted Best British Band for the second year running, while Motörhead, whose 25th anniversary is this year, received the special Silver K award "to commemorate a very significant metallic anniversary."
