Jack Bruce Joins Classic Rockers For Rock Hall Benefit
Cream's lead vocalist and bass player, Jack Bruce , will close the two-day visitRaleigh.com concert to benefit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the John Entwistle Foundation. The festival, which is scheduled to run Sept. 19-20, will be held at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, NC.
The opening night of the benefit event (9/19) will be headlined by Traffic co-founder Dave Mason , who is a 2004 Rock Hall inductee. Saturday's show (9/20) will feature Grand Society, followed by NC's Parmalee, The Connells and Arrogance; Louisiana's Supagroup is also on Saturday night's bill.
The headlining portion of the show will open with Jefferson Starship , featuring original Jefferson Airplane founders Marty Balin and Paul Cantner, both Rock Hall inductees. They will be joined by another Rock Hall inductee, Grateful Dead keyboardist Tom Constanten.
Dennis DeYoung will then take the stage, playing hits from Styx , the band he co-founded. DeYoung will be followed by members of the former John Entwistle Band, who will be accompanied by former Deep Purple and Rainbow lead vocalist Joe Lynn Turner; Blue Oyster Cult lead singer and guitarist Buck Dharma; and former original Grand Funk Railroad singer Mark Farner. The group of classic-rockers will be performing the hits of their respective bands.
The members of the Entwistle band then will be joined by Bruce for a closing set of Cream's greatest hits. After the Cream set, a number of the headlining artists and other special guests will perform an encore tribute to Entwistle and the music of The Who , according to a press release.
Proceeds from the visitRaleigh.com Rock Hall concert will go both to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum's educational outreach program and the John Entwistle Foundation's program of providing musical instruments and music lessons to disadvantaged youths through the public library systems in communities across the US.
