The "victory lap" phase of Bruce Springsteen's "Magic" tour is in full swing and Springsteen and band opened a three-night stand at Giants Stadium on Sunday (7/28) to open the final leg of their world tour.
As noted in our report on the night's show, Springsteen and band hit the ground running with a 30-song marathon that sprinkled live rarities (like "Adam Raised a Cain" and "Janey, Don't You Lose Heart") with staples from the band's career.
LiveDaily's Peter Keeling was on hand to capture some photos.
For the uninitiated, the "victory lap" is traditionally the part of Springsteen's tour where his initial promotional push for the current album starts to fade and the setlist loosens up to take in rare or new or just playful song choices to keep the show fresh for the band and audience.
In recent months, Springsteen has taken to honoring requests from audience members bearing signs and has been reaching back to trot out cover songs that the band used heavily in tours from the 70's and 80's, including "Devil With A Blue Dress," "Summertime Blues" and "Twist and Shout."
These will also likely be Springsteen's last shows ever at Giants Stadium, as the venue is scheduled for demolition in 2010 to make way for a new stadium.
