Jackson Browne has become known almost as much for his political activism as for his songs. Considering his left-leaning bent has been common knowledge since he became active in the "No Nukes" movement following 1979 Three Mile Island nuclear accident, it's not surprising that the singer hit the roof when the Ohio Republican Party used his signature hit, "Running on Empty," in an attack ad against Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
As LiveDaily previously reported, Browne has filed suit against the John McCain campaign and the Republican party for copyright infringement and implicit false endorsement. Lawrence Iser of the Santa Monica, California law firm Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump & Aldisert said in a statement, "In light of Jackson's lifelong commitment to Democratic ideals and political candidates, the misappropriation of Jackson Browne's endorsement is entirely reprehensible, and I have no doubt that a jury will agree."
Browne is gearing up for his upcoming fall tour, which kicks off in mid September Washington, DC, and runs through a Nov. 3 in Phoenix, leaving him just enough time to get home California to cast his ballot at his local polling station.
Tim Mosenfelder attended Browne's Oct. 20, 2006 concert at West
Sacramento, CA's Raley Field, and took some photos of his performance.
