U.K. Charts: Robbie Williams Scores His Third Straight No. 1 Album

LONDON--Robbie Williams re-established himself as the king of the Official U.K. Album Chart on Sunday (9/3) as his third LP, "Sing When You’re Winning," entered the chart at No. 1. As a result, teen soul singer Craig David’s "Born to Do It," which had been in the top slot for two weeks, fell to No. 2 and Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating’s album "Ronan" fell to No. 3.

The release of "Sing When You’re Winning" also boosted the sales of Williams’ first two albums. "Life Thru a Lense," Williams’ debut, re-entered the chart at No. 24 and his second album, "I’ve Been Expecting You," rose from No. 45 to No. 21. The only other noteworthy new entry this week was JJ72’s self-titled debut, which entered at No. 16.

Meanwhile, Madonna ’s new single "Music," the first from her forthcoming LP of the same name, was knocked off the top of the Official U.K. Singles chart by A1’s cover of A-Ha's "Take on Me." The pop queen fell to No. 2 after just one week at No. 1. Spiller’s "Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)" fell to No. 3 and the theme song to British television show Big Brother, by Element Four, entered the chart at No. 4.

Other downward moves on the singles chart included Posh Spice Victoria Beckham’s first solo single (with help from dance group the True Steppers), "Out of Your Mind," from No. 3 to No. 5; Robbie Williams ’ "Rock DJ" from No. 4 to No. 6; and Sporty Spice Mel C’s "I Turn to You" from No. 5 to No. 8. More new entries included Bon Jovi ’s "Say It Isn’t So" at No. 10 and Kid Rock ’s "American Bad Ass" at No. 25.
