Trace Adkins, Avant perform for troops

Trace Adkins soon will return to the Persian Gulf as part of a USO/Armed Forces entertainment tour. During the week-long trip, he will perform for troops, visit remote forward operating bases, sign autographs and pose for pictures. He also is expected to talk one-on-one with troops to share his personal accounts of how he started in the music industry and express his gratitude to those serving in support of operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, according to a press release.

Adkins, a long-time supporter of the USO, previously traveled to the Persian Gulf on a USO tour in 2002. Last year, he was the recipient of the 2007 USO Merit Award for his continuous dedication to supporting troops and assisting others.

In related news, R&B performer Avant is currently in the Middle East for a series of shows at larger bases in Iraq and Kuwait. He is also being flown by helicopter to perform at Forward Operating Bases located in secret locations. Avant, who began performing in the Middle East Aug. 23, is expected to remain in Iraq through Sept. 1.
