After 5 years apart, the Grammy Award-winning Stone Temple Pilots have reunited, seemingly sans the stigma that used to plague the band: belittling critics accusing them of copying earlier grunge acts like Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Soundgarden.
At a press conference in April, frontman Scott Weiland said "… there's all these young kids who had older brothers who were STP fans, and now they're these little hipsters--18, 19, 20 years old--and they're STP fans, …it's kind of what I did with the classic bands I love--the ones that influenced me."
Stone Temple Pilots' current tour takes them in a counter-clockwise direction, hitting the West Coast in the first two weeks of September, then Mexico and the southern US in October. Their final show will be on Halloween weekend in Birmingham, AL.
LiveDaily photographer Tim Mosenfelder attended the Sacramento, CA, show on Wednesday (9/3) and took photos of the band in action.
