'NSync, Son By Four, Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan To Perform At Latin Grammys
‘N Sync will perform with popular Puerto Rican salsa band Son by Four at this month’s first annual Latin Grammy awards in Los Angeles, according to The Recording Academy. Performances by Jennifer Lopez and Gloria Estefan are also scheduled for the Sept. 13 awards ceremony.
Son by Four and ‘N Sync are scheduled to perform a Spanish version of ‘N Sync’s “This I Promise You” (“Yo Te Voy A Amar”) as well as Son by Four’s "A Puro Dolor" ("The Purest of Pain"), which hit No. 1 on the Latin charts, according to the Academy.
In addition to their own performances, Estefan and Lopez are also scheduled to co-host the event along with actors Andy Garcia and Jimmy Smits.
Marc Anthony garnered a number of nominations, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Male Performance for his hit “Dimelo (I Need To Know).” Anthony also shares two nominations with Lopez for the duet “No Me Ames,” one in the Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal category, and a second for Best Music Video.
Fellow Latin sensation Ricky Martin squares off with Anthony in the Record of the Year category for the Spanish version of his smash hit “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” and again in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category for “Bella (She’s All I Ever Had).”
Also clocking in with a number of nominations is Estefan’s husband Emilio, whose production work with numerous Latin artists garnered him a nod in the Producer of the Year category. Estefan herself, meanwhile, is nominated in the Best Music Video category for “No Me Dejes De Querer.”
Awards will be presented in 40 categories, divided into 11 fields such as General, Pop and Music Video. Rounding out the 11 fields are awards in the Tropical, Regional, Traditional, Jazz, Brazillian, Children’s and Classical genres.
The Latin Grammys are slated to take place at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Sept. 13 for broadcast on CBS. The program is also scheduled to be carried by Westwood One radio network and the Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation.
