Rock the Vote hits the road
Former American Idol contestant Melinda Doolittle will help Rock the Vote kick off "The Road Trip '08," a mobile road show designed to inspire young people to register and vote, according to a press release.
Doolittle will kick off "The Road Trip '08" Sept. 13 in Nashville. The three-week trek will then traverse key states including Pennsylvania, Ohio and Missouri.
The Road Trip tour bus will feature computer kiosks that will be able to assist in voter registration, educate users about the election process, field requests for absentee ballots, teach users about key issues, provide information about poll locations and much more.
During the tour, various local and national musicians and guest speakers from politics, sports, film and television will be on hand to promote Rock the Vote's mission to "engage and build the political power of young people in order to achieve progressive change in our country," according to the statement.
Additional talent for upcoming Road Trip dates is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
